That would be a cruel thing to do indeed! How could you possibly be so cruel as to do a thing like that, Apex? Unthinkable, maybe even sadistic. Just think of all the pleasure, glee and gloating you would be depriving poor CTF388 of by deleting it.

    Quite to the contrary, Billy.

Each time attention gets drawn to the conflicts of interest that you both possess, your credibilities suffer minor blows. The effects of those blows tend to be cumulative

Given that Apex's dirty linen appears as a subject line in discussions here -- there have been more than a few -- the question of his business practices become central to the issue.

Apex's disclaimers of being not involved in his homonymous corporations (ApexCreditServices and Barnette Law Offices) are straw men to divert attention from his financial, professional, and personal involvements in those companies.

Similar discussions can be had for Billie, CreditWrench and Cap1Sucks, one person with three (or more) internet personalities. The for-profit nature is, once again, central.

Part of due diligence is understanding the businesses you chose to deal with.

Do you wish to deprive the CN reader of such information?

I'm just going to delete it. Not worth making yet another unknown internet enemy.

There, it has been deleted. Upon reflection, I do not want my firm associated with credit repair insofar as we don't provide such a service.
  5. billbauer

    billbauer Well-Known Member

I don't either. I don't know anything about credit repair and wouldn't admit it if I did.

No, not at all. In fact I think you ought to go look for more places to inform people all about me. Here, let me help you out.

That's just for starters. Then there are all the video sites such as youtube, google video, mix and many more where I have quite a few videos. I don't even have any idea of how many different videos I have in different video sharing sites. You can have lots of fun telling everybody all about my shameless self promotion in all of those sites. When you get done with that tour you can move on to the social media sites and inform everybody in those too. You can start with twitter and facebook and digg and delicious and reddit and and feedity and feedburner and yahoo pipes and Technorati and far too many more for me to even remember.

Then you can get in on my Friday night conference calls and tell everybody on the call about my shameless self promotions. That should be a great way for you to while away all your Friday evenings for the next several years. Of course you will have to figure out how many identities I use in all those different places and what they are.

I see you are a pretty good guesser. You just guessed at least part of some of my many other identities. Billy Jo, Billy Joe, Billy Bob and all the variations of Billy. But that's just the start. Just about every place you can find any shameless self promotion going on you can bet I'm probably at the bottom of it somewhere, somehow.

Just think of all the fun you can have in the process and the great amount of public service you will be doing exposing me and all of my identities to the public so they will know all about me.

Oh yes, and don't forget to come back and let us all know how you are doing every year or so. We all like to hear about the heroic accomplishments of great public servants such as yourself. May the wind be always at your back and all your days sunny and bright.

As you carry out your self appointed mission please remember that any publicity, even negative publicity can be very beneficial. The reason negative publicity can be even better than other types is that after people have seen a certain amount of it they begin to get curious themselves and start investigating the person you are berating just to find out whether any one person really can be as bad as you portray them to be. They want to know the real truth and it don't take long for them to find out for themselves.

Another thing you don't seem to understand is that there are no free lunches. You seem to think that everything should be free and there should be no shameless self promotion. I'll bet you are oblivious to the fact that this board lives and exists on shameless self promotion. You can find Joshua Heckathorne and his shameless self promotion all over facebook and many, many other places. Do you really think he does that for free? If so, then think again. I'm sure he gets quite well for what he does. His pay has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is the google and other ads on this board. In order to get eyeballs and clicks on those ads he has to do a lot of shameless self promotion. So as you go about your duty of great public service be sure to tell everybody about all the shameless self promotion that Joshua does too. I'm sure he will be overjoyed to get so much free publicity.

Oh, I'm sure you'll get a reply out of that. Frankly, I got tired of arguing with people I don't know so I just don't.

However, you did light CTF up pretty well.

I hate to even set foot back in this thread, seeing what it has degenerated to. But I must point this out:

Crap like this is a big reason why I stay away from other credit-related forums (as always, I'm leaving them nameless). Sure, some are sue-happy ("You didn't receive a response to your validation request within 30 days? SUE THEM FOR ELEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!"). Others regurgitate bad information (the ever-popular "a CA must respond within 30 days or they broke the law"). But far too many get bogged down in senseless, stupid flamewars over the most ridiculous things.

It's obvious some people on this forum are very well-versed in the legal system but absolutely clueless about the Internet. Likewise, many of us are hands-down expert network administrators or social media marketers, but are learning a little more about the legal system every day.

I'm not going to point fingers here, but threads like this are a prime example of what drives users away. This has been run into the ground, dug up, beaten to death, buried, dug up again, burned, chopped up, and buried again. And yet, here we are. The various mods and admins here have said it over and over again -- take personal disputes to PM or email. If you can't make that work, then don't do them at all. That includes passive-aggressive threadstomping.

I come here largely because it's free from flamewars that look like they were written by 9-year-olds who just figured out their parents' AOL password. I think I speak for every single user when I say I'd like to see it remain that way.

If you feel a poster has publicly attacked you, report the post. Replying only calls attention to the poster's claims and makes you look bad. There is no "defending your honor" on the Internet; you (and by "you", I am not referring to anyone in particular) just look like a jerk.

I am sorry to rant about this publicly, but maybe it will help some people see -- if you participate in it, you're guilty of it.

Each of us have our own way of looking at such things. I tried to ignore what has happened in this thread but after a while one does get sick and tired of the senseless sniping and nit-picking.

You're right. I cannot argue against what you've said. However, and in the spirit of what Bill said, it does grow tiresome of being attacked by people for reasons unknown and by persons unknown. It's easy to be a big man behind a screename.

This is the reason I've stayed away from these boards. We have a ton of posts here, gain nothing from posting here, and are simply here to give advice. Over 2k posts cannot be spam.

Yet, we're called names, I am personally attacked even though it is a corporation and generally, it is more of a frustration for me to post here than what it's worth. Still, I do from time to time to try and help people.

That said, I'm taking your advice from now on insofar as nothing I say works as a defense no matter how true or obvious it is. I'll just report it and move on.

People who argue with themselves in internet settings do not do favors for those reading.

Apex's business practices seem to keep cropping up every couple of months, brought up by people here who believed the advertising and came away disappointed. Those practices are proper subjects for discussion.

He claims being a Managing Director of ApexCreditServices. I would hope that he manages to direct his business so as to avoid these public eruptions, and would remind him that if he chooses to continue to be the spokesperson, that the personal criticism may well be warranted and even inevitable.

Criticism, however, does not imply license to make false or unsupported charges; conversely, though, being critical does not suggest that all comments are false or unsupported.

Moving on, it seems to me that the other boards that Billie et al seem to be alluding to have both strengths and weaknesses, just as CN does. That does not necessarily make them better or worse, just different. It also seems that those boards are ones on which they are no longer welcome, for whatever reason.

CN is not immune from erroneous information being posted, either. But we hope that bad information is corrected quickly and accurately.

I cannot argue against what CTF says either. All that I would ask from anyone is not to personally attack "me" simply because I post here.

I know that the admins are tired of it. I know that owners are tired of it. Most importantly, I know that people that come here looking for answers are distracted by it. It defeats the purpose of the board and personally, I don't want to be a part of that.

I've invested a lot of time trying to help people here and contrary to popular belief, it has been for free. All that I would ask is that I am allowed to do that free from unwarranted criticism. Again, what CTF is right in that posting here makes me the so-called spokesperson so, if I claim arises I should expect that. But, if it's drivel and from a non-client, it shouldn't be here and really, even legitimate issues should be dealt with by the corporation and the client directly.

    That said, let's help some people . . .

I thought I read in another thread that has been locked down because some person or persons were making snide comments and attacks on other members. Seems I recall a statement that those who continue to do so will be banned yet here we go again.
    More snide attacks.
That may be so but in some instances those who allege that some post bit is inaccurate, false or misleading don't have the knowledge or expertise themselves to know whether it is valid or not. Some people seem to think that just because they post allegations of false or misleading information they are to be instantly believed and accepted by all and sundry as experts and gurus. Trying to correct someones bad information is perfectly acceptable so long as the poster is not personally attacked in the process.

If someone constantly posts false or misleading information that fact will become apparent to all and sundry without the need for personal attacks. If someone is trying to rip off others that will also become widely known and very quickly without the need to publicly denounce that person.

We had a good example of that a couple of years ago. There was a person who was posting about his expertise in credit repair and boosting peoples credit scores using the authorized user concept on several boards and e-groups. I started posting about him and his scams and he sued me for 1.4 million in federal court for damaging his business and his good name among other things. I beat his case easily and the Texas A.G. later put him out of business because he actually was operating a scam.

I was also viciously attacked by another famous poster for exposing the scam artist but as usual, my attacker did me far more good than harm in several ways. Seems he realized that was happening and suddenly disappeared and started using another screen name on other boards.

Personal attacks on others is never a good idea no matter how much bad information they might post. Also it is an extremely good idea to have valid proof before going after someone for things that seem to be illegal acts. If you don't have absolute and incontestable facts your allegations might just come back to haunt you in ways you never dreamed of.
  14. CTF388

    CTF388 Well-Known Member

And then there was a prominent poster on other boards who started his own CROA and was convicted of fraud.

So what is it that you are trying to say?
  15. billbauer

    billbauer Well-Known Member

Must have been a debt collector or an attorney. I've seen several of them running illegal CROAs and getting nailed for it. Can you just imagine how stupid they feel when they find out they even admited that they are running illegal CROAs and do it in writing then wonder how they got caught up in that trap.
If you have to ask then maybe the fact that you can't figure it out is better for all concerned. Your inability to figure it out might help keep the board to at least a slightly lowered noise level.
  16. CTF388

    CTF388 Well-Known Member

Are you making a personal attack?

I thought you were adamantly against them.

FYI the CROA miscreant is one that was, and still is, all over a lot of other boards, even though the terms of his probation prohibit him from involving himself in credit repair for a period of five years.
  17. billbauer

    billbauer Well-Known Member

Heavens to Betsy, No! What makes you think I might do such a dastardly thing as that?
    Oh, I am, I am, I am.
That's not all he is supposedly prohibited from doing according to the terms and conditions of his probation by a long ways. Don't seem to make much difference to him however. While I don't know all the terms of his probation and parole most states don't allow those on probation to travel out of the country and in many cases even out of the state but according to him he makes trips all over.

On the other hand, his trips might be mere figments of his over active imagination too. If that happens to be true he isn't the only one with an over active imagination so nothing new there. We have at least one or more here with over active imaginations or at least whom can easily be suspected of having that sad affliction. Sometimes they even get accused of being so afflicted too.

Now that I have made that accusatory statement all I have to do is sit back and see who will be the next clown to jump up on stage, front and center and either claim to be the clown or try to claim I must be referring to myself and thereby attempt to create further hate, discontent and discord.
  18. CTF388

    CTF388 Well-Known Member

Right, Billy, right. You're just the noblest of the noble.

And you're also generally right about the probation and the miscreant. If he gets dispensation from the Court, however, the miscreant may just be able to move to another jurisdiction after serving sentence.

    Thank you my friend.
I could care less what he gets from the court or what jurisdiction he moves to. Like you he is one of my very good friends.

Let's all grow up and follow Sparq's advice - "Threads like this are a prime example of what drives users away...take personal disputes to PM or email."

    Thank you Sparq.

This thread is being closed as it is not going anywhere productive.

If any of you care at all about this forum and keeping it a safe place to ask and receive answers to questions for free, then you'll take your personal disputes elsewhere and get back to addressing unanswered questions instead.
