Don't rock the boat, don't wake up the dead. If no one has hounded you yet there is no need to demand a validation.

Start with the most recent ones and see how it goes. I tried disputing some of my medical bills and they all came back as valid. They do a pretty good job of keeping up with all the paperwork to prove that you do owe the debt. Best advice I can give you is to send a "pay for delete" letter. This way it will be completely removed from her report and will improve her score.

    Just one more data point...

I had an old medical collection that I sent a validation letter on and all it did was wake them up and start sending me dunning letters (and updating the entry in the credit report).

I'm not saying this will happen to you, but I'd give you a 95% chance that they'll have the information, sent it to you (e.g. the photocopy of the last bill) and then ask how you planned to pay for it (with interest).
