Point blank question. No beating around the bush!!! Okay, I have a debt that is now with a collection agency. I've sent a letter to the CRA saying "not mine". They've replied saying the debt is verified. Is there another step I can take? The nutcase letter doesn't seem to be the answer since I have not paid the balance in full. If I could afford to pay all my creditors in full I would, but I just can't afford it right now. What are my options? Should I risk contacting the CA directly via mail and "officially" waking the sleeping giant?? I don't know what to do. Thanks for you help
I am sure that if the CRA actually did verify with the CA than it is a good assumption that your giant has been awakened. Did you not start with a rqsuest for validation letter to the CA? That is the best and most effective way to start. When the green cards come back from the CA, you send the CRA's a dispute letter. Then you wait, and the CA usually walks into a violation or two. Just make sure the total violation amount ($1000 ea) outweighs or comes REALLY close the amount of the alledged debt. NEVER EVER ADMIT YOU OWE ANY DEBT!! EVER!!!
Re: Re: Debt Verified- PLS HELP** experts!! Actually, it is not too late for this cross validation/dispute. When I 1st started my credit repair, I made the same mistake and then found this board. I then started with the CA's and some OC's, and did the criss-cross process and have had MUCH success, not only for me but for my SO as well. So it was worked twice so I do know it is possible. I do beleive, however that you can have only disputed with the CRA's one time, or they may lable the 2nd dispute as "previously investigated" or lastly, "frivolous". Even EXP did another dispute, but made it clear the TL was previously disputed. I did get a few deletions from EXP that were previously "verified", and a few "verified" again. Initially with this creiss-cross process, I had gotten about 50% deleted off the bat. Follow ups and ITS letters the 2nd round removed a few others. There were a LOT of violations so it was to my benefit. I am still waiting for a few at about 60 days now. There are about 2 stubborn ones I cannot seem to get removed but they are due to fall off in the spring anyway. So, I do not it is not too late. Try this method as you may still be able to get some deletions!
