well, i do agree he didn't do his research about how Lex bills.. but I think it's a technicality, as Lex's initial "set up fee", although within bounds of the law, is awfully suspect. In effect, they're charging up front. At least thats how I saw it when I was looking at them back then. To be honest, this was a deciding factor for me when i decided to go it alone, as it rubbed me the wrong way (to put it nicely). I'm not sure if they still charge that "set up" fee, so I may be wrong here.

I won't begrudge the "unknowledgable" for using Lex, as I almost did. I was just surprised by your posts as they were a bit more "barbed" then I expected.

Common reasons people give for using Lex include things along the lines of their personal lack organization, time, knowledge. ie, it's easier to let lex handle it. But I disagree - a CRA dispute by itself is pretty straightforward. I think if one just limited themselves to this approach, with no intentions on ever dealing with the OC's and CA's, and no intentions on ever pursueing litigation, it would not be a very difficult undertaking. An hour a month maybe? A weekend learning their way around their credit reports and your Repair primer and they would already be able to do the equiv of a "Lex" type repair easily. But by that point they'd realize there's many more angles and methods available.

There should be no charges up front period, set-up fee?? For what? Whats that? Sounds like being charged for credit repair before it's done to me?

I don't think I was off base to state what I did, payment for any credit repair, whether it be set up fee or whatever you want to call it in my opinion would constitute a violation of the law.

I have researched what Lexington is about and I would not use it nor would I advise others to use it when basically all they are doing is spamming the bureaus which anyone can do.

Do they deal directly with the actual creditors or collection agencies or do they just send their letters to the CRAs?

In reality I don't view credit repair as a business, I view it more as an enjoyable hobby. I've been on this board for a little over a year as well as some of the others and I have never mentioned I ran a credit repair business or tried to gain clients. That is not why I am a member here.

I am not an expert in credit repair either, I learn off of others here all the time and Doc is a good example of people I have learned things from.

Show me an expert and I'll show you an *******!

Doc and all the others I don't wish nor did I wish for this to turn into a pissing contest. I've admired you for your knowledge and help you provide others here at CN. I have learned a great deal by being a member here. As I stated earlier I did not mean to offend Lexington or it's clients but I do continue to stand by my posts, it is my opinion.

I'm unclear on what you mean by spamming? They send non-specific info to the credit bureaus or blanket dispute requests? I'm not sure I get what you are saying with that phrase.

    Please explain
