    Hello all,
I recently was shopping for gifts and wanted to take advantage of Nordstroms Visa card for an opening account you would receive $20 off. I was only going to spend $200 and cancel the card after I paid it off. But to my surprise I was declined and upon receiving the dumb letter saying why, it just said "DEFAULT". What does that mean? Towards the end of November I was approved with Best Buy for their store card for a CL of $1,400 and the Best Buy Visa thru Household Bank for a CL of $1,000.

What gives? Does anyone know what DEFAULT means?

I am always on time and no derogs on my 3 reports.

There is something listed showing that you failed to pay as agreed.

Maybe you have an old auto reposession?
    or
Maybe you have old student loans?
    or
Maybe you are the victim of Identity Theft

You should take advantage of the decline letter to get a free copy of your CR to see what is on there.

If there are accounts there that you know nothing about, you need to take action!

Consolodated student loans last month but everything shows paid off.
Their is a security alert on one of my files but it should come off next month.

    Hi JCM,

Sometimes they just send out a form letter to all declines.

Along with what PD said, write to them, with a copy of this leter, and demand they explain IN DETAIL.

    :)
