I have a $425 medical collection from 1997 that's the only derogatory item left on my TU & EQ reports. I live in Wisconsin which means everyone pulls TU. Not knowing then what I do now, I foolishly paid it in full right away. (It's a long story as to why I didn't pay the original creditor sooner.) What's the best way to get this item deleted?

    Thanks.

My experience has been that paid off collections can be extremely difficult if not impossible to eradicate.

The reason is that it is extremely difficult to admit that you owed a debt by paying it off and then claim that it isn't yours or that it's a false report unless it really is.

It is also extremely difficult to get them to break the laws dealing with collections and collection agencies when no collection activities are in progress at the present time.

It's a tough go at best if not impossible.
