Can you actually have your old addresses deleted from your credit report? I thought I heard somewhere where you could have them deleted. Cause I talked with Experian today and they said they do not do that. Is that true?
I've called each of the 3 CRA and they have deleted all of my old addresses. There were three or four on each report that were removed. I just stated that they were "not mine".
I did call Experian and Transunion and they did delete them. Good. CSC is closed for the holidays. If you delete an old address and you had a bill from one of those old addresses, then will the credit bureau delete the item if the only address that is remaining is your current one?
I am told sometimes this works. I also heard that EXP buys old DOT records of consumer info (drivers liscence information records), so they may have the info stored "behind the scenes". I cannot imagine that the CRA's don't archive this info somewhere, or in a "history" section of our actual CR. But I have have talked to people that have used this method to success. I am going to try it because I am moving in Jan, so we'll see.
I have had no problem calling and getting it deleted. If you want to change your current which I would suggest if you have any bad debt associated with it you need to send in more documentation.
EQ lets you do old addresses online. I just removed them and they came off the same day. They will appear again when an account reports w/your old address. If you pull your report daily and watch for the changes, you can figure out who's reporting and contact them - assuming you want to contact them, of course.
