Deleted Charge-offs what angle ?

    Has anyone had much luck getting charge offs on credit cards totally deleted ? I have a beneficial and a capital one card around a $1000.00 each total.If i pay them the full amount should I expect them to delete the items off my credit report ? Toolhound

    No they won't remove, they will just report it as a paid charge off. Pd chgoffs are a score killer, I'm still fighting 2 I paid before I knew what was up.

    Ask them if they will delete for payment. Make sure to get it in writing.

    Thanks for the advice , I'am also trying to see how much good a secured loan using a CD will help your score . My credit union says they have to report it as secured . Any idea's Toolhound

    I don't know about this one, but I'll give you my thoughts. I would be willing to bet that a secured loan is easy to get. No risk to the lender. I would look around and find an institution that won't report it as secured. A good payment record will help your score, but I'm not sure how much the secured notation will hurt, if any.

    As far as the Capital One charge-off goes, PFB Mr. Cooke, and you can probably work out a deal with him i.e. once you pay it off, he'll change your rating from a R-9 to a R-5. Just be sure to get it in writing from him before you begin paying it off.
