I'm in a dilemma to cleanup my own report or have a "company" do it for me. This company claims that if I do it myself by disputing and hoping the creditor doesn't respond in 30 days and it gets deleted that it will more than likely reappear the next month when the creditors tape is downloaded at the credit bureaus. Are you guys finding that things are reappearing or are the deletes staying off?
what company is this and what do they "say" they do different? Most repair companies just spam the CRAs with dispute letters.
Hi Mjrcleanup, Welcome back. Usually those deleted items stay deleted but it certainly does happen that they get reinserted. And it's because of those monthly tapes. The FCRA requires that before an item is reinserted the CRA must obtain a "certification" of the items accuracy. We're working on forcing the CRA's to produce it. There is nothing that a credit repair organization can do for you that you can't learn to do on your own, other than perhaps save you some time. YOU are the only one who will put in the love and attention your credit reprot deserves. CRO's often get things screwed up. Hope this helps.
Also, if deleted items reappear, they have to notify you within 5 days in writing that they have reinserted them. If not, it's lawsuit time.
It has been my experience, and not a good experience I might add, that the only items that have reappeared on my reports were from Equifax. I truly believe that this whole 45D issue (credit watch) and split files may have something to do with this. Whatever the rationale, in the last two months I have had FIVE reinsertions by Equifax & none from TU or EXP. If this information is transmitted to the CRA's montly via tape wouldn't all 3 bureaus be reinserting these items? I think something is fishy at Equifax. Just my thoughts.... Lisa
