I have multiple accounts in collections with one HMO. The story is thus.... I had HMO with my job. I quit the job and was given the option to continue the medical coverage through cobra. I did, but didn't receive a bill for many months. I called about it, they said not to worry, I would get it. I did, after about 7 months, for $2000. I didn't have that much just lying around, so I asked to make payments. They said no, they would just cancel if they didn't receive my payment by X date, which they did, since I didn't have the $2k. Now there are like 20 seperate bills from $30 to $2000 for individual services given while I thought I had coverage and yet couldn't get them to send me a bill. So now what? Can I get the collections removed because of some law I briefly read about concerning medical bills? A little help..... The search wasn't very productive. They are listed directly with the HMO on the collections portion of my bill and no CA is listed anywhere. I don't have any other collections on my account, just dealing with DH, so if I can get these GONE I will be a happy DW. - j4
Hi, I cannot answer you question. I do not have any medical collections on my report, so I hadn't been paying much attention to posts on this board about them. I complemented Butch on a post, and found myself in the middle of a new thread that had been continued from elsewhere. I started reading, and got bitten by the 'medical reading bug'. Here is the link, and in the post, there is another link that gives you the beginning of the discussion. I don't know if this is helpful, but this is all I can find. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=218972#post218965 Good luck........
