    Hi all,

Need a little help. I am trying to send a pay for deletion letter to CMRE Financial for a small medical bill (116.00) that appears as a negative on my credit report. I have searched but I don't have any information filed away about this bill. The credit report only lists a partial account number. Any ideas about how I should reference the account number?

Also, should this letter be sent certified mail?
    Thanks,
    CR

Have you sent a validation letter to this CA yet? And to answer your other question, it is ALWAYS a good idea to send everything CMRR so you can build a paper trail for your records.

    No,

Should my first step be a validation letter to collection agency? I want to take care of this ASAP since we are planning on buying a home in the next 1-3 months.

    Thanks,
    CR

Well you could just dispute it with the CRAs first then validate when you get the green card back, that way you can tighten the noose a bit timing wise for the CA. Just write the CRAs and say that you were looking over you report and there is this account that you are not familiar with and it needs to be deleted and go from there. I think I have a post that deals with this.
