I just had a quick question. Ive read about how certain things can change your fico score for the good and bad. But I just had a chapter 7 and 13 deleted from my equifax report and my score went down 11 points. Both the 7 & 13 were older and had them both dismissed myself years ago but the filing of them still showed. Nothing else changed on my report. Any feedback would be great thanks
Hey, the removal of even a negative item on your reports that has some age to it will hurt your score. It is speculated that this is due to the fact that the scoring algorithm doesn't just take positives into account, but also the history and age of accounts. If you had these removed, the scoring model now has less of a time frame to calculate your risk. It is common for people to report a drop in score when neg's have been removed. Happened to me too.
