I have two questions regarding how to delete old addresses from your credit report: 1. Is it best to make these requests in writing return receipt requested or will it be just as efficient and faster to do this online? 2. How long do you wait, after you've requested the CRA's to delete old addresses, before you send a DV letter to a creditor? These are standard TL accounts, not judgements or anything like that. does that make sense?
in my experience, this is the easiest thing to do. order your free report, and then call or email them, this address is not mine please delete. wait about a month and dispute. case closed. thank you very much.
This was something I just did last week when I disputed over the phone with EX - I corrected all things that were wrong. I would not recommend disputed on the phone - I got the 3rd degree from the person I spoke to. If I would have done this online or by mail, I would say "not mine" and that's that. I had 16 addresses listed. There were 2 addresses that each had 5 variations, plus there were others. For each address I challenged, EX had to see if it was connected to an account that was currently being reported. If not, they could delete it. If it was connected to a current account, they couldn't delete it. They also had an initial for a spouse! Under the part that says "Spouses name" it just had one letter, like an initial. My now ex-hubby (divorced 20+ yrs ago) didn't have that initial for his first, middle, or last name. So where did that information come from that EX had???? EX said they would remove it, but I wonder where all of this mis-information comes from. If you are just trying to remove wrong addresses, it probably wouldn't hurt to call. In fact, it may be a good idea, because you may need to know if the address is connected to an account first. But here's a question for the experts: If there is a wrong address connected to an account, and the account is negative, is that something to use to get a deletion of the neg. account? If you found out that "CA 5" has a wrong address, is that when you can say "you are reporting false info and you must remove or ITS"? (of course not telling them what exactly is wrong, and they can't pull a CR to find out, so you get the deletion or the get sued.) Should you correct wrong info. anywhere, or keep it while you can use it to delete a neg, the correct it?
