I'm new here and still trying to catch up on all the great info. Happy to hear about everyone's successes. I recently disputed 4 CAs with TU and they deleted 3. I was ecstatic until I got my FICO and it actually went DOWN from 612 to 595! What happened?

    Hi Matt,

TU has been the biggest thorn in our side since we started our repair journey as well. If I were to take a possible guess at what happened, it may be that the accounts that were deleted were older ones and when they disappeared the average age of your tradelines dropped.

Is that ridiculous? You bet it is!!!

There is sometimes no rhyme or reason to why scores do what they do which is why the whole scoring game is so maddening to many of us.

My advice would be to continue to work on getting your negatives deleted. DO NOT dispute any positive tradelines (even if there is a little something incorrect) because TU is notorious for deleting them, never to allow them to return.

My advice is based on a philosophy that some battles are simply bigger than I want to take on. There are others who believe that we would all be better off if we simply refused to deal with any company who uses these ridiculous scoring methods. Personally, I believe they are right.

Unfortunately however, for most, the choice is to either deal within the system, fighting the little battles along the way, or to forego many of the pleasures of life which credit allows us to obtain. I'm talking about long term pleasures like the joy of home ownership, or self-employment. I'm not talking about the temporary ones which are nothing more than living beyond one's means and for which there is often a high, long term price.

We make a choice to work with the scoring system and then do what we have the time and energy to do to hold their feet to the fire to at least report accurately.

Anyway, you're doing the right thing. Just keep cleaning up your reports, paying everything on time and carefully adding new accounts at the right times and the scores will eventually follow.

It's frustrating when it happens like it did to you, but you are definitely not the only one it's happened to and this is only a minor glitch. This kind of issue also tends to be more of a problem with TU than with the other two CRAs.

Sorry to have dragged on so much, I guess for some reason your post just brought out a little of the philosophical side.

    All the best!

Thanks Pooches. I am definitely continuing my work. I sent out 10 requests for validation last Tuesday and have had 4 green cards returned so far. They have until July 12 and then I send copies with CRRRs attached to the CRAs. Watch out, I'm on a roll here.

The reason is they are rigged against us :
That's why the whole thing is a shell game.

Even accurate Information is used against you .
The previous poster just proved that.
Better idea destroy the scoring shell game.

    Hi lb59,

I quite agree with you. Destroying the system would be better.

The problem is we each have to pick our battles. There is only so much time in this life and each of us has to determine how we're going to spend the time we're given.

For example, voting is important to me. I do it because I want to participate and I feel it is my duty. I could make more of an impact for my political positions if I went out and worked for a candidate I support. I probably should do it. But I have to make a decision and pick my battles. I may contribute financially to the campaign, but I am not willing to spend the time it would take to work within it.

Same thing with credit. I will fight to an extent. We will probably sue one of the CRAs in a couple of months (which is a frightening thing to us) for lots of inaccurate reporting. That is about as much time as we're willing to devote to the effort. We probably could find reasons to take 'em all on, right and left, but we're just not willing to devote our lives to the pursuit. We have to pick our battles.

So lb59, I don't disagree with you at all. I just enjoy the rest of my life enough not to want to spend all my time fighting against a system that is so much bigger than me.

And yes, I know that means in some respects I'm contributing to the problem.

    All the best!

Don't sweat the TU consumer score, it doesn't mean a thing. The only score you'll see that will matter is your FICO score via equifax.
