I have a friend who used Dell's Finance Plan, but it has only been a couple of months. I am using Gateway's "90 days same as cash," thanks to information obtained on this insightful board. Does anyone know if I pay the account off in 6 months, whether or not, Gateway's financer, Hurley State Bank, reports to all three CRA's? Any input would be greatly appreciated. TommyC
Actually, Gateway uses three banks and Hurley State Bank apparently is willing to consider those reestablishing their credit. When UPS delivered my computer, inside one of the boxes, was an application for Gateway's Branded Mastercard being serviced through MBNA America. On Gateway's Mastercard application, it states that it is "A User-Friendly Credit Card," whatever that means. I have too much cleaning up of my credit reports to go prime just yet, but maybe a year or so from now. Great board and excellent advice from everyone, thanks again, TommyC
Just bought a laptop using Hurley's finance plan. Interest rate is high, but it's the price you pay to get back on the "prime" highway TommyC wrote: ------------------------------- Actually, Gateway uses three banks and Hurley State Bank apparently is willing to consider those reestablishing their credit. I bought a Dell computer and HP printer in March 2000 and financed all of it through Dell Financial. I made payments in accordance with my contract and actually paid it all off if July 2000. Dell has never reported the history with me to any CRA. Two weeks ago, I sent a letter to Dell Financial and Experian (that's the CRA they pulled my report from) requesting that a trade line be added to reflect my payments and final pay-off. I should hear back from one or both of them within a few weeks. I'll let you know what the response is when I get it.
Yes, please do. If nothing else, I believe we could ask for a one time insertion into the 3 credit files.
