I have been getting calls daily at my job from someone who claims to represent Dell Financial. He continues to call even though my boss has told him I am usually not in the office and to stop calling. It has now gotten to the point where the guy calls...not to talk to me...but to get into it with my boss as they go back and forth. My boss has filed complaints with the local police department and even contacted ATT. What can I do to get this to stop? Luckily, the boss is my godfather so he actually finds humor in all of this. Additonally, I can honestly say that I do not owe this company anything. I have never received anything from them stating I do and I don't have anything on my CR that says they are out for me. What should I do? Are they in violation of any laws? I thought I read that they cannot harrass me at my job. The guy also says he is based in India, which from the sounds of everyone my boss has talked to, he is telling the truth. (ATT traced the call and said it originated in Philadelphia, so who knows) Is he not subject to the same laws if he is in fact doing this from India? What to do?
Is this a matter of misidentification, or possibly id theft? Have you not ever had a Dell account, or if you did, do your records show it paid in full? How recent do they claim this account went delinquent? Do they say they are from "Dell", from a bank or lender used by Dell, or from a CA? What company name, address, or phone number do they provide?
