I ordered and financed (at least briefly) a computer through Dell and it has been almost a month since I received it. Shouldn't I be receiving a bill or statement or something from them for making payments? I'd be a tad upset if I heard nothing from them and it ended up on my credit report, so I will probably call them, but thought I would check here first to see if anyone knows their process.

That's funny, I was wondering the same thing just a week ago! LOL!

I got mine a little over a month after we ordered the computer. It will come, don't worry.

stay on top of it. Call and ask when your first payment is due... and make certain they have your address correct.. ;)

    My cautionary Dell tale:

My balance showed up online about 2 weeks after the computer arrived. I sent in payment in full, they cashed the check, and then did not credit my account for the amount. I waited a week, still no credit. At that point I called to find out what was going on. Haha, the joke was on me. I waited on hold for hours, and no one ever answered.

The next day, I called just before they were supposed to open, figuring it would be easy to get through. After waiting for 45 minutes, I gave up on the phone and used their e-mail to contact them. No reply after 3 business days, so I called again. 30 minute wait, no answer, so I called the tech support number for the Financial Services web page, figuring it was a back door to a live person. It was, but what a live person! She was rude, ignorant, and unhelpful. A couple of days later, I received a reply to my e-mail (8 days after I sent it), that said they had no record of my payment, and I had to send them front and back copies of the cashed check. This was, mind you, only a couple of weeks after they cashed the check, so it would probably take a few weeks for my bank to process such a request. I sent them a very rude and insulting e-mail, warning them against assessing finance charges to my account because of their incompetence, and the next day, my account was magically credited for my check. Two days after that, I got my first bill from them, almost three weeks after they'd cashed a check for payment in full.

Hopefully, your experience will be better than this one, but I'd be very careful with them, and I'll tell you right now I would not use Dell Preferred Credit again.
