That's odd. There is a $19 fee for the perfect card unless you make at least 9 transactions a year. Yep, FICO is a crap shot.

Actually, to be fair to this dear lady, I should point out that there's no evidence that she "doesn't use credit." That's just a distortion that originated with someone in a hurry in the Chase credit department, but here a couple of you guys are repeating it as if it were actually true.

The facts are that she does use credit, but never carries a balance. Leveler heads at Chase described this as "lack of revolving account utilization," which was their real reason for denial. She could use her cards as much every month as anyone who carries balances, yet show low utilization because she pays off her balances. She's being penalized for making sound financial decisions, and some people recognize that that isn't fair.

As David pointed out, Chase can make plenty of money in merchant fees even from people who never carry balances. They simply aren't satisfied with that. They want to make higher profits from people who carry balances and pay interest, and then they want to make even higher profits by raising APR's while complaining that balances increase risk.

I'd like to point out that Chase REALLY doesn't make any money from 0% balance transfers, yet throws them at people all the time. They do this anticipating that the borrowers will accumulate excessive debt and be unable to transfer their balances, thus allowing Chase to charge a high go-to rate.

Chase needs to become an honest bank again. It needs to give credit to people with good FICO scores, even if they never carry balances. That way, Chase won't have to assume risks its employees are emotionally unprepared to handle.

I think you assume toooo much the dear lady might not of used a credit card in a year which in case brings no transaction fees no merchant fees and leaves chase with the 60 dollar bill they don't need the hassle they give these cards away all day long to people who use them...........

and as far as chase goes they are one of the best banks out there , but if you are a subprime customer unfortunately all banks will treat you as their subprime model tells them to treat you......

As far as the dear old lady goes tell her to use the cards she has for a while constantly for maybe 6 months and she will get the card she wants with that score.....
