I got my denial letter today and my score at the time I applied was 608 (though of course it didn't say that on the rejection)

It says it was because of past and present delinquencies. It says if my credit report is wrong to send them a new copy in 30 days and they'll reconsider.

My newest dispute problem is that now a medical collection agency is attempting to re-collect on a 5 year old debt that I was underage for and my father and insurance are supposed to deal with. They called me today and sent a certified letter today. This comes after I disputed with all 3 bureaus. To my knowledge, they haven't called or written in years.

    What a lousy credit day.

Steph, sorry to hear the news. Which report(s) did they pull on you? Was 608 your Equifax score? Or what?

Equifax, and I was at 608 the day they pulled it. I just don't get why it works for some but not others :(

citi has pretty strict guidelines on outstanding charge off's and collections.

I was told anything less than 2.5 years old (chargeoff or collection $250+) is grounds for denial.
I just asked the lady why i was declined, and what could I do to correct the matter. they are quite nice.

Wait till your score goes up, and try again in several months. I suggest that all derogs are in "dispute" when you apply. It works.

They were all in dispute, and everything is at least 2, if not 3-5 years old. I am just really upset right now, I felt confident over it. If Equifax deletes this crap (investigation results at the end of the month) I'll ask for reconsideration.

Sorry to hear about the denial but dont give up. I received a denial over the phone. This was after being given an approval over the phone. To make a long story short, I called for 5 days straight asking to speak to a manager. A manager was never available, but I kept calling back. Today, the rep puts me on hold, comes back and again states a supervisor is not available, but I was approved for the card.

Dont give up! Call and ask for an explanation and perhaps you can present your side of the picture.

    Mike G,

CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so glad you got the card! Certainly they should have given it to you, especially after telling you initially that you had been approved. Tenacity is a good quality to have!
