I was wondering if anyone else has been denied because a company was unable to verify a phone number? My husband and I applied for a LOWES card because we were in the process of getting a fence and we only had enough cash for wood when we really wanted vinyl. Anyway, we applied online and the message said that they would contact us in 7-10 days. Then we got the letter and it stated that we were denied because they were unable to verify our telephone number (we put our cell phone # on application). Did they just compare the number on the application to the one on the credit reports??? Or did they call?? I'm thinking the system must have automatically scanned for the number because we were not instantly approved and our scores are pretty good(thanks to Creditnet). In a way I think it was a blessing in diguise because we really did not need to go in debt to get the vinyl fence. Now we have a nice wood one that we were able to pay for in full. However, I was still curious about being denied based on a phone number. That was a new one for me......Talk to you all later!
Oh and I forgot to add that they pulled TWO credit reports!!!!!!!!!!!!! They pulled Equifax and TRANSUNION! :-( **One other thing..I'm wondering if Monogram bank looked at the telephone number from our JCP acct with them??? We never did update the number once we moved....
THEY CHECK WITH "411" if it is "UNLISTED" they can deny you!!! You "MAY" be approved with a copy of your phone bill...(reconsideration) YMMV
Well, that explains it! Our phone number is unlisted. Wow..learned something new today. Thanks George!
F.Y.I. they don't read the phonebook anymore to "SELL YOU SOMETHING" Years ago my BROTHER-IN-LAW and I kept track of all calls for like 6 months...HE GOT "TONS" MORE ADVERTISING CALLS THAN I DID...HE HAD AN "UNLISTED" NUMBER...I DID NOT!!! I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE "PRIVILEGE" OF THEM NOT LISTING MY NUMBER!!! Can you imagine going to a restaurant and being charged EXTRA for no salad dressing for your salad???
My phone number is not listed and I just received a credit card from Chase (universial) $8500.00 limit in less then a week. No phone call to my house or my employer.
why not dail the no = ? The best I can make of this is, Why not dial the number---did I decipher this right?
Re: Re: Denied..unable to verify phone #??? TRANSLATION---->WHY DID THEY REFUSE TO DIAL THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON THE APPLICATION AND SEE IF YOU ANSWERED!?!?!?
Re: Re: Re: Denied..unable to verify phone #??? Elementary Wasn't it GEORGE? The END **************LB 59
Re: Re: Re: Denied..unable to verify phone #??? Sorry, for not getting it. I am only a newbie. I suppose by the time I am vet I will be an expert at reading hieroglyphics.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Denied..unable to verify phone #??? You have to take the HIEROGLYPHICS and divide by 2 and add 7 then change the b's to c's and add 4!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Denied..unable to verify phone #??? Citi tried this on me back when I applied for the 0% until 04 offer. They wouldn't approve me b/c the phone number couldn't be verified (only gave them my cell, and I don't answer "unknown" callers). I called , verified my info, then no more than 30 seconds after I hang up the same CSR I'd spoken with calls me back (on the same line), asks if I work there. I told her yes I'm still here, she says OK and like that I'm approved. Some verification!
