What is the general score department stores need, such as best buy, circuit city, pep boys? I have a 665 TU and 705 Eqfx. Also have a ch 13 more than 5 yrs. should i bother applying?

You have the score. Anything 650+ up they usually have no problem with (some dept. stores are execptions...). The BK is my only area of concern. I would probably contact customer service before applying and just ask. Some will say it matters, others will say it doesn't as long as it 2+ or older.

    Just my $.02.
    Have a great weekend.

Every company has different guidelines, but if you have a BK on your record I would recommend that you start with a secured credit card that reports your good payment history to all 3 credit bureaus as unsecured, this should be your first step after a bankruptcy before applying for an unsecured line of credit. Good luck.

I already have several credit cards with $5k+ limits, some accounts are more than 5 years old too. I just dont have many department store cards (only spiegal w/1400 limit).

How about judgements? If yuou have a judgement, does a dept store deny you?

    Slayer,

Try to apply for Target Card, JC Penney and it is easier than Best Buy.

I'm a year outside of my bk and have an unsecured visa and mc. I got Target on my second try, I already had Mervyns.

I tried Penny's but didn't have any luck. But I never tried again after the first time like I did with Target.

Just keep trying, there was also a post about credit after bankruptcy and darned if I can't find it. It showed what lines people were able to get 6 mos, 1 year, 2 years etc. after bk.

    Don't give up.
