I am looking for a good department store cc to apply for. I need one that is pulling EX (score about 600). I am thinking about a loews or home depot card (one I will not use until I get my home). I currently have two subprime cc but, I think I need a department store card or some kind of card to reestablish my credit. Any suggestions on cards??????
i got a best buy with $600 limit with a 611 score on eq. the terms are good they give you 90 days on everything
I got a Boston Store (a/k/a Bergners, Carson Pirie Scott, Younkers, Proffitts) charge card with a $2k CL and had around 650 something score on TU, no derogs (just lots of inquiries and new accts reporting). I put a $1500 furniture purchase on it, 12 equal monthly installments on a ZIP (zero interest plan) program. Great deal if you ask me. Plus they gave me 10% off for opening an acct with them!
Tea, where are you located? Local "big box" department stores tend to have the most lenient qualifications ... as previously posted, Carsons (any of the Saks stores- Parisian, Bergners, Boston Store, Carsons, McRaes, Proffits, etc.), Field's, Macy's, Nordstrom, etc. Target is another good one - they are their own bank (Retailers National Bank). It seems that the GE (Monogram) cards -- Lowes, Home Depot, Mens Wearhouse, Linens N Things, etc. are a little tougher. Good luck, mj
MJ are saying the SAks5th Card is not too difficult to get? Around what kind of score is "safe" to your best guess In case of George RNG.
I am in Texas. The only department store you named that I am familiar with is Macy's. The others to my knowledge are not in my area. What about furniture stores how are they??
How abou Neiman-Marcus. They are originally from Texas. Their interest rate is still only 18% unlike some of the other stores such as Lord & Taylor and Saks.
Foleys (May Company) is the same as Filenes. They fund their own credit cards (they don't use GE or Household) so are a little more lenient - but they have low limits (my experience). I second the warning about furniture companies - they can very easily be classified as "finance company" -- look at the application, and if it's credit extended from Beneficial/Household -- don't do it. If it's Monogram (GE) or MBNA (Ethan Allen) probably OK. Saks is the same bank/company as Carsons, Bergners, Parisian, etc. -- soon to be Household -- and is pretty liberal in their credit qualifications. -mj
Macy's (FDS) and Foley's (May Co.) were both easy for me to get almost two years ago. Neither one pulled Experian.
