Well I sent a nice letter to the department store nicely asking them to delete the derogs from my account from 1995. They're due to come off August/September this year anyway. I called becuase I received no response - and they told me no over the phone. Today I got a letter from them that said "we have investigated your dispute and have determined the information to be accurate. Therefore, we are unable to alter the credit rating". Well I didn't ask them to investigate anything - just asked for 6 month reprieve! I thought about the 'nutcase' letter but am leary since I sent them a nice letter first. Do ya think I just need to hang tight 'til Aug/Sept when this finally comes off my report? It's a 30 day and a 90 day late and it's the #1 reason on Equifax that my score isn't higher. It's the only negative thing on our reports. Thoughts? Ozzy.
I noticed when I was disputing, that if an item was within about 6 months of falling of due to the 7 years, and I disputed, they were deleted almost every time. I doubt they investigated. I thing they just decided, why bother. So, why not just start a dispute and see if they'll just fix it?
Did that... they verified it. Twice. =-( I feel like this thing is just gonna haunt me for the next 5-6 months.... <sigh> Ozzy.
LBrown - I shop there maybe 1 or 2x a year now...nothing much. Even when I had the credit card with them I only owed $1400 max over the 8 years I had the card..... and that was right after we got married and bought 'house' stuff. Ozzy.
