Derogatory mark mysteriously disappeared?

I had one derogatory mark on my credit report when I checked a few months ago and it was a valid collection which had been purchased by NCO Financial. I finally got around to mailing in a PFD on June 16. I have not received any letter from them about it, but I checked my CreditKarma account (As I do on a daily basis) and noticed that my number of derogatory remarks had gone to zero.

I have one free credit report remaining for this year, but I don't want to use it if I don't absolutely have to, so I figured I would ask here first... has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

I doubt the CA would delete anything before agreeing to the PFD or even communicating with you about it.

Which credit report did you check a few months ago when you had the one derogatory mark? I think Creditkarma pulls Transunion reports, so you have to remember that it could have fallen off TU while it remains on both Equifax and Experian. I wouldn't rely too much on what CK tells you anyway. They're often not that accurate.

The reports it shows up on are Transunion and Experian. It is a Collections account from a progressive bill, and it was from late 2009, so the chances of it falling off on it's own are nonexistent.

Credit Karma definitely pulls from Transunion. I would get a tri-merge credit report and see what appears.

I finally found out what happened. I received a letter from NCO stating that they had removed all reports from my credit report and kicked the bill back to progressive to be paid. I received a bill for the full amount from progressive on the same day. They definitely chose an odd way of handling it, but I got what I wanted in the end, so I am ok with it.

You have to be careful and make sure you know what you are getting when you pull your credit online. You might think that you are getting a tri merge credit report and it could only be one bureau. Most of the credit scores on the online are not your true credit score, some can be off 60 or 70 points in either direction. If you really want to know what your score is have a hard pull done through a lender. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET

Thanks, but Im not looking for someone to sell me a service. I believe pulling a credit report and tracking my approximate score through a free service is more than sufficient for now.

I am not trying to sell you anything. I was simply joining the conversation, and educating others about pulling your credit online. If you want to know what accounts are really on your credit and you want to know your real credit score a you should have a lender pull it. The company that I work for does not sell credit reports. Thanks! :) Heather with BoostMyScore.NET
