Ok Gang, this is the hardest post I have done. I have a neg on my credit for back child support. The total is $84,705. I know what you are thinking and you're wrong. It would take 3 days to explain this. Suffice it to say that this is incorrect info. My problem is obviously I want this removed. I don't want to go back to court to fight this. Right now they are leaving me alone. I just want to know what to do to have it removed from my reports. I doesn't show as a judgement, just a negative account. It was on all 3 reports and Lexington somehow had it remove from TU and EQU. I know it's hard to help someone in this situation, please believe me when I say this is not what it seems. I appreciate all the help and guidance you have provided so far and I hope you will give just a little more. Thanks, Bobbi
Yes, that's all they do, I haven't tried that personally yet. I guess I was hoping that someone might have an idea regarding validation, etc. Thanks, Bobbi
You may want to try disputing them first and see what happens?? As for validating, back child support is well documented usually. Is the amount wrong??? Maybe dispute b/c of that?? OR do you not really owe back support??
Yea I agree with Roni, Lex only sends out dispute letters so the chances are that the item was just not verified when they disputed. Try simply disputing it with Experian hopefully it will be painlessly removed from there as well. This of course does not remove the burden from the item but it will get the incorrect item off your reports so it can't hurt your credit. I heard you say "you don't want to go back to court". Does that mean you have court documents that can help prove your case? If so, dispute, and if it comes back verified take them to court and make them pay. Don't feel bad about the type of debt...no stigmas here...a wrong item is a wrong item and should be cleared up. Even more so when it carries this stigma...if wrong it should not be there to haunt or harm you - period. You should not feel WRONG when you are RIGHT! Good Luck! -Peace, Dave
send a dispute letter saying the account is not yours. if you dont want to write a letter, you might just call them and tell a rep that. i found telephone disputes very easy to do. the idea is to get a verification process initiated and hope for no verification leading to deletion. experian is notorious for NOT doing verifications and just leaving it on our report with a false verification, so that may explain why lex was unlucky with deletion on the first go around.
I have loads of documents, I have been fighting this for over 10 years. The amount is totally wrong, but I think it would confuse the $7/hr EXP clerk and cause them to just list it as verified. Yes, you are right, child support is closely documented. But in my case the everything about it has been wrong since day 1. I am just going to continue to dispute it. Thanks for all of your help. Bobbi
Well then just make it a simple dispute, like roni suggested not mine etc. Don't give them any info or they will screw it all up.
do no , do not , do not dispute the balance. do not tell the exp the balance is wrong ever. that admits it is yours. dispute the account as NOT YOURS first please.
I know. It's been screwed up for years. I just want this thing off. It's a bitch having and $85,000 debt out there. It's playing havoc with my score. Thank you guys, for helping. Bobbi
