I "Opted-Out" during the first week of June from allowing companies to do promotional inquiries on my credit reports. For over two months I have been free of junk mail and credit solicitations. On Aug 15th I applied for AMEX line of credit. In the midst of the application process I recall reading their privacy statement, blah, blah, blah. The only problem was that I was rejected for their credit. Now, there is apparently no way for someone not blessed with an "account number" to be granted privacy from information sharing. On the same day that I received the declination letter from AMEX (yesterday), I also received an atrocious offer of credit from Ameriquest. Ameriquest "claims" in fine print that it was as a result of a PRM inquiry at one of the Credit Bureaus. Not so. I checked all three today and there are no PRM inquiries. The last one was in April. Have any of you Opted-Out of allowing promotional inquiries of your reports? Are you now receiving promotions like I have after applying with AMEX? Mist
