when I cancelled my amex green card I had a balance on it, they said it was fine and they would send me out a final statement and to destroy the card. I was setup to recieve online only statements and now that the card is cancelled I cannot access my bill online or pay it online. My monthly statement closes on the 13th, should I just wait it out and assume they are gonna send me a paper statement or should I call and check it, or can I call and pay it off tomorrow, even though my statement date is not until the 13th? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I have only closed cards when they are at 04 balance before and am a bit concerned.
If it was me, I'd call to find out my final balance and give them a payoff over the phone. Don't take a chance of a 30-day late showing on your credit report because the creditor hasen't send out the promised statement.
I have some closed accounts, albeit involuntary, but I receive statements every month. I think it has something to do with the FCBA. But you can pay them over the phone to be sure. Now go stand in the corner for closing it with a balance !! j/k
THEY MUST GIVE YOU A PAY OFF BY PHONE OR MAIL...since you can not get ON-LINE access... Since they won't let you pay ON-LINE...I would just call and pay by phone...OR tell them to send you a final bill by mail...
They can't report a 30 day late until you are actually 30 days late, so if your next payment is due on the 13th of July, then they can't hurt your credit rating unless they don't get paid until after August 12th. That said, though, they can (and probably will) hit you with a late fee if you don't pay by the 13th. While it's argueable that it their own fault if you never get a statement and you can't access your account online it's probably not worth the trouble. Like the others said, I'd call and make a payment by phone or call and get an address to send a payment to. HTH, Brett
well, my billing cycle ends on the 13th and they normally would've asked for payment by, say, the 25th so I will just call on the 14th or 15th and pay it off over the phone. Does that sound like it would be okay? They have my checking account info from the blue card I am keeping so, they should be able to just charge my checking account over the phone, I think?
