I sent a letter to Equifax to dispute some accounts Via Certified Mail today. I just noticed that on one of the accounts I transposed the account number in my letter, I included the original creditor info and provided copies of paperwork showing this is not my account. Will Equifax take this error as an excuse not to investigate. Also I included a copy of my W-2 with salary and tax info blacked out to show my correct address since they still have my old address and a copy of my driver's license did I make a mistake here also?
Yes they "may" because there is no account or entry to investigate. However you can re-dispute asap (today) since you have not disputed the account in the first place...use online disputes you can't make that mistake. Do NOT include any such "W2" information with your dispute. I understand you "blocked" out the unneeded info but don't! No harm, no foul...but don't, for my sake. Simple reason/answer, do not provide any unnecessary or extra info, ever. -Peace, Dave
What I do with personal info. is send a copy of s.s. card WITH sig. blacked out and a copy of D.L. with number/sig blacked out. I want NO ONE having my signature. Could be used to verify. They have put D.L. numbers on my reports in the past and that must not be there as well.
