A friend of mine received a pre-approved cc offer in the mail.
She did call and apply, but declined opening the account.

She pulled EQ the other day, and the now an account is showing from this bank as 'Closed by Consumer'.

Although it's not negative, she doesn't want it appearing on there because she never authorized opening it.

    Here's my thoughts...
Dispute with the bank, using following letter...

    Dear Sir or Madam:

This letter is being sent to you in response to a recent review of my credit file as maintained by Equifax.

On (Date), I received a pre-approval offer in the mail from your organization, which stated that I was pre-approved for a (VISA, M.C. etc) with a credit limit of up to $XXXX. On (Date), I called your organization to inquire about the pre-approval offer and I did give permission for your organization to procure my credit report at that time, thereby â??applyingâ? for this card. However, I specifically stated that I did NOT want this account opened.

On (Date), I received a copy of my credit file from an Equifax affiliate, ChoiceData, and upon a close review, I noticed that an account has been reported by your organization.

I am writing this letter to you in an effort to get this removed. Please delete your information from my credit reports. I have never had an account with your company. I have never authorized opening an account with your company, I have never signed a contract with your company, I have never agreed to any terms or conditions for an account with your company, and your company has never issued a card to me.

This is a written dispute of this account per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Credit Billing Act. Please be aware that I am exercising all of my rights per these laws and all other applicable laws protecting me.

    Thank you,

Then, dispute with credit bureaus immediately after receiving green card back, as Not Mine....

If the bank pulls her cr, she has them on a non-pp, right?

and if they "verify" with cra while in dispute, she has them on that violation as well, correct??
    Thanks All!!
