Hi everybody! I have been reading this forum for a while and think it is very informative. I do have a question for you: What do you think of the Diners Club card? Is it worth the fee? I have had one for years (since 1997) and I like the look of the card, the service, and the two cycle payment due. However, I find that the acceptance by merchants is limited. Does anyone know why? Why don't these guys sign-up more everyday merchants? I am interested in reading the feedback. Thanks in advance. ChesterR
I like it for the reasons you mention. Another is that the customer service is excellent - on the few occasions I have needed to call Diners, my calls were answered immediately by a customer service representative. No automated system to negotiate first. Rewards are good too - probably the best program that I have at this time.
ChesterR, I have Diners Club Card for over two years and the customer service is excellent and polite. By the way Diners Club is not accepted everywhere like Visa, MC, Discover Card or Amex. You have paid it off entirely every month and you cannot carry balances like Amex except Montage Card. Diners Club has rewards program. You can make payment on-line and the payment deducted from authorized checking. Montage Card need to pay annual fee for rewards program otherwise no annual fee. Ron.

Ron, Do you feel you can use the card often enough to get your money's worth? I am assuming the fee is $95.00. Thanks, ChesterR
ChesterR, I used the card as much as I can and I used it on retail, mail order, and rtestaurants. By the way , they have the merchant locator to locate the merchants acceptance for you. It depends on how often to use it and $95.00 is kind of high compared to Visa/MC. By the way, some of the airlines rewards charged to you as much as $150.00 for the platinum cards. By the ways, the rewards points can be turn to travel rewards, merchandise rewards, redeems towards to no annual fee of the card. The rewards point has no expiration unlike some other cards. Ron.
I have the Diners Club Montage Card with no annual fee. I like it (I guess) -- frankly, I've only used it a couple of times. Long ago, I had another pseudo-Diners card -- the Amoco Diners Club Torch Card (or whatever the heck it was called). Does anybody remember that? Basically it looked just like a regular Diners Club except it had a little-bitty Amoco logo on the card as well. Customer service was handled by Amoco, although the card was accepted anywhere that honored the real Diners Club card. That was back in the mid-1980s -- how time flies, lol. Doc
