Does anyone know if this card includes free primary auto rental insurance as a complimentary benefit ?

    Thanks.

Nope, it's secondary insurance with the Montage Card (like all AmEx cards but unlike the regular Diner's Club card).

Just checked out the website and it looks like this card is only available to existing Diner's Club cardmembers. Has anyone applied for this card who didn't have a previous Diner's account ?

    Steve,

The Montage Card is only being offered to existing Diners Club Cardmembers. Current Cardmembers interested in applying for the Card should call 1-800-663-2467.
If you are not a current Cardmember but are interested in the Montage Card, please complete the form below. You will be contacted when the Card is available to the external marketplace.

It doesn't mean you can't apply for one. Doc didn't have the regular Diners Club and he got the Montage Card.

That's correct. I called, they took my application, and I was approved for a $10k loc.

Thanks for the info. everyone. Just applied over the phone. Should be receiving the card within 3-4 weeks once approved. Does anyone know if the card should come sooner than that like within a week to two weeks ?

I've heard that Montage cardholders are allowed complimentary access to Diner's International airport lounges in Miami and Newark. Is this true ? It would be really cool if it was because I usually fly from Newark.

Steve, that's true! The Montage card holders are given the full hospitality treatment in the Diners Club airport lounges internationally. Lucky you re: Newark, lol.

Just called and found out that I was approved and the CL is $14,000 !!! This would make Diner's my second highest limit card after Quantum. This will really help out my ratios. I've come a long way since my first Providian card.

I'm getting ready to dine in style now.

    Congratulations, Steve!

If you live or travel to major US cities, there's a great selection of 20% off restaurants. (The Montage card qualifies as a regular T&E Diners Club card.) Here in beautiful Knoxvegas, er, Knoxville, Tennessee, we have one (count it, one) restaurant that qualifies, lol.

Montage looks to me like a "Diners Club Lite" card. That's not a bad thing - the regular DC card holder's demographics are off-the chart

    - The highest annual spend ($7,588/year vs. Amex $6,637 vs. Visa $1,839 vs. Discover $1,389) and average charge in the U.S. card industry: $312.57 per charge

    - Affluent frequent travelers and business professionals â?? 85% with $70,000+ annual income

Montage looks like a way for them to expand their market a little bit. I hope it works - I'd like more merchants to accept this card.

The "regular" Diners Club card offers more bennies (primary auto insurance, higher insurance levels, club rewards, LeCard, etc.) all for the $85 fee.

One nice thing that comes with the regular card is your two additional accounts - ClubCash and ClubPlus.

ClubCash is a cash LOC that doesn't charge interest (4% at the ATM and you have >62 days to pay in full). I love it for keeping business travel cash needs apart from personal cash.

Club Plus is a revolving LOC like Sign&Travel. Mine is 10k @ 12.5%. It _doesn't_ report - so it's a nice hidden credit line.

If you're a regular card holder and get the montage, your Club Plus LOC is closed (I don't like that).

    mj,

I have both Diners Club charge card and Montage Card. They keep reporting my Diners Club to the bureaus. My Montage card has been opened for three months and they haven't reported to any bureaus.

primary means they pay first. Secondary means they only pay if your regular inurance won't.

    Ron-

Very cool. My concern is that with Montage they might start reporting CP LOC. Between AX LOC and CP LOC it's nice to have a "hidden cushion"

Wolverine- put another way (this happened to me on a Corp. Card once) ...

Secondary = they INVESTIGATE YOU to see what insurance you have, then they pay what your insurance doesn't -- you have to report it (very bad). IMHO, this is worthless.

Primary = you just call them and forget about it- your insurance company will never know.

    mj,

I have Diners Club as my primary card and Montage Card as my secondary card. I'm surprise they didn't report my Montage card to credit bureau. According to the card agreement, they supposed to report my Montage Card to credit bureaus. If they report the account history to the bureau, it may hekp my scores. Thanks for your reply.

    Ron.
