Just got my pre-approved platinum card offer in the mail. APR - 2.9% for the first month, thereafter 17.99%!!!! You've got to be kidding me. Who is Direct Merchants Bank anyway? I've never heard of them until now.

2.9% for one only 1 month???? Is that a mistype?

DMB aka Direct Merchants Bank is a subprime bank located at http://www.directmerchantsbank.com

Cards are only being offered via preapproved offers by mail only (no on-line apps)

If there is no annual fee, it looks OK.

DMB is a subprime card. I've had them for years. Sad to say, but until very recently they were the best of the bunch for me. $10k CL and 11% APR. Asked them for lower and got 4% for six months.

They're not horrible but not great. You might get the card just for the CL to lower your ratios, since there's no fee.

They are really bad about selling off accounts. They sold my perfect account to HH and lied about it for 2 mos (I knew because it was changed on my credit report). They offered me 0% for 6 mos not to cancel, of course they could have offered anything because the account was sold and they didn't have to honor it. So they are liars too.

Be wary - they rank up there with Providian and Cross Country Bank --- (or down there???)
