Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! Supervisor from this crap company that services DirectTV in our area called me yesterday to tell me that they did an "investigation" and found no errors. The bill stays and we have to pay it. Husband won't LET me pay the bill. I want to take care of it because we are transferring to Cocoa Beach in less then a month and I don't want this come back to kick us in the arse as far as collections or to prevent us from getting DirectTV down there at our next duty station. He wants me to write a letter stating that we will pay what we are responsible for (subscribed cahnnels) but not the porn because we dispute the charges. He is dealing with the attorney. We are HUGE Miami Dolphins Fans and Love Jimmy Buffet too!
Those guys at DirecTV must get a good chuckle out of these types of phone calls. "No, my husband says he doesn't know ANYTHING about the porn that was ordered! Why can't you believe that???" de·ni·al n. Psychology. An unconscious defense mechanism characterized by refusal to acknowledge painful realities, thoughts, or feelings.
Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! Give it up already, too much. Your hubby/boyfriend really scarred u for life & made u a bitter woman didn't they?
Re: Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! I've never had a bad experience with such a situation. I suppose it has a lot to do with using common sense in life...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! Have you and you DH talked about what you two are going to do when you get to Cocoa Beach? What I mean is are you taking your old equipment with you? If you are, will this "dispute" follow you? Do you really want to use a card that could have been cloned? That means purchasing a new one, which one is cheaper, a new card or paying the disputed amount? I wish you two the best of luck, don't forget get full names, dates, times and take full notes when dealing with DTV.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! the method (patented) that marries your card to the receiver, generates a unique key, that no other receiver and card can make. This combination can be used to identify that the card was used in that received. Along with how it was ordered (by phone, or by phone call from receiver). So far i've seen nobody clone the receivers key, so the marrying process is unique. DTV Knows your IRD # and the key on the receiver, DTV knows your Keys on the card. DTV can send a kill down to cards that do not belong to each respective receiver (married). The Neat thing about DTV cards is they have something called ONE TIME PROGRAMMING ROM. Once something is programmed on it, never can be erased, maybe circumvented, or marked out. The same can be done on the receivers. So ultimately, when DTV gets around to it, they can indeed ECM cards that do not have the correct matching ZKT keys, thus ending cloning as we see it. Clone kills were done along time ago on H cards but i don't think DTV has ecm'd the Hu based on the above system. They can. They can also ecm the receiver, like echostar star does. If ya think DTV can't get your card, they will eventually get your receiver Anyhoo thats todays' lesson. I'm not a dtv hacker or anything just had a friend show me the ropes year or so ago. Too much hassle to get hashed often, or have to unloop cards. I don't watch enough porn i guess. lol
In real simple terms, when you get DTV the box programs the card, and once programmed the card is married to the box. A hack program can read the values from a valid card, and then copy the keys to another card, thus making any box seem like a valid box/card combination. The latest cards "P4" can't be hacked. The older cards "HU" can, and the oldest "H" and "F" cards are obsolete. So, if you have a "HU" card aka the "football" card then your card could be cloned if someone had access to it i.e. your son, husband, visitor's to your house, etc... Since the hacked card has memory, and the PPV features can be unlocked, a cloned card would have no real reason to have the phone line connected to the box in that it is being used.
I "THINK" you should just PAY IT...BUT SEND ALONG A COVER LETTER STATING..."PAID UNDER PROTEST" Invest in a NEW BOX...it has a new card...(WINK & CALLER ID)...$50-$100 Just sign up the NEW box and KILL the old box and card!!! "IF" it was cloned, it should "KILL" the cloned card too..."I THINK" If it does not KILL the old card...you have a record that that box and card was "KILLED" on XX/XX/03
here's an idea: pay with your credit card. Try to pay your regular bill that you are fine with through one transaction. Then pay the porn charges in a separate transaction. After this is done wait until your credit card statement comes back and dispute it with your cc company. The amount is likely to be quite small and they'll give it to you. Tell them you were forced to pay to avoid collections and you protest the charges. Don't mention it's porn, there's no need. If you can't charge it separately charge it all at once and then just dispute a portion of the bill. And, of course, write a letter to the company telling them that this is highly unfair and that you're switching to another provider. Try to bitch and moan as much as you can, tell them you're a huge football fan but will miss it. If you're lucky, they'll try to shut you up with a free month of Sunday Ticket. Who did it (or whether anyone did it) thus becomes irrelevant as you can all watch the Dolphins for free for a month if it all comes through.
Re: Re: DirectTV charging for pornNOT MINE! Canceling the card will put that CAM (Conditional Access Module) ID out of service for good. Since itâ??s the card that is what has been cloned, buying another box isnâ??t needed, just request a new â??P4â? card from DTV. From what I understand, they have started to send these out to subscribers anyway, as these â??P4â? cards have yet to be hacked.
