I just signed up for creditexpert a few days ago, and discovered that Wachovia is still reporting 2 accounts accounts as delinquint, even though they were discharged in Bankruptcy. I think they are hoping that I will deposit a large amount in my checking and they will grab it. Any suggestions?

That is simple. First do an online dispute. more than likely, it will be deleted. If it is validated, send a demand letter to the OC and tell them that they are violating the FCRA by reporting inaccurate data and if they do not delete it, you will sue.

Usually, step #2 is not necessary. However, they can update it and state, 0 bal, discharged in BK. That would still be legal.

Do you think I should worry about putting money in? My husband thinks I should go ahead and deposit my checks, and if they dare to confiscate it, go after them legally. Half of me says that this is probably ok, not to let them push me around. The other half says "this sucks, I don't want to have the stress". I need to put money in monday, put am hesitant, but am leaning torward just depositing it and daring them to touch it.

Why don't you just call the bank tomorrow and ask them what the status is of those 2 accts? Then you'll know and then, you can dispute as posted above.

i've already called and gotten a run around. One person told me that they were in bankruptcy recovery dept, another said that I would have to go to the main branch. Its getting a little rediculous with these people. My new employer doesn't know of my bankruptcy, so I don't really want to call from work either. It seems like a huge mess and its really stressing me out.

    Sweet,

I'd agree with your husband. Please let 'em snaggle money to offset a debt discharged in bk! You and hubby would have NO financial problems for quite some time.

    Keepmine,
maybe I will, but next month..need to pay some bills this month. They are already breaking the law, should I just wait for them to screw up, or go after them now?

Don't call. Write letters, return receipt certified mail.

If you are worried about them stealing your money, then change bank accounts. Tell the bank that your checkbook was stolen. Also password protect your account so that a CA can't bluff their way past the screening questions to get your balance.
