If a CH7 Bankruptcy was discharged on Dec 1, 1997, as I understand it, this will remain on the Public Records for 10 years, or until Dec 2007.

Does the same hold true for the actual debts cleared by the Bankruptchy, or are they removed after 7 years?

For example, using the above Discharged Bankruptchy in Dec 1, 1997, when would the following be removed? :

    ABC Financing
    Acct Type: Installment Account
    Acct Status: Closed
    Monthly Payment: $61
    Date Open: Sep, 1996
    Balance: $0
    Terms: 36 Months
    High Balance: $1,688
    Limit: N/A
    Past Due: 0
    Remarks: Included in Bankruptcy
    Payment Status: Unrate or bankruptcy

    Thanks in advance =)

Each trade line should come off after 7 years. Only the public record of BK lasts 10 years.

Ditto the above post, this is also our understanding, however with disputes, we have had many cleared and reading 0 balance or paid as agreed etc.......And you may be able to have the bk deleted from the cr's with disputing, however, it is a matter of public record for 10 years. I do know that these records are available at the local courthouse for 2 years after discharge date, then they are relocated to a file room in another state for the duration........
at least that holds true for the state we filed in and according to the clerk at the county office. My concern is that anyone who wants has access to our ss#'s, now that's scary!!!

It's actually the date of filing, not discharge. Seven years after filing you should be able to get all TL's removed. Sounds like next December, unless your filing date is sooner.
