My father just added me as an AU on his Discover card for the purpose of increasing my credit score. However, he told me that Discover did not ask for my SSN. Does anyone know if I will still show up as an authorized user, of my fathers discover card, on my credit report? If not is there anyway to get Discover to report this to the CRAs? Thanks.
can't speak specifically to Discover, however many cards can "find" you. I know I was added as an AU on Bank of America card, no SS given, and now i'm reported as such on all my CRs.
Thanks eriqnoodle. How long did it take to show up on your credit reports? I know it probably varies but what kind of effect did being an AU have on your credit scores?
Can everyone else tell me about their score increases after being put as AU. I have just been put as an AU on two of my fathers credit cards; a Discover credit card he got in 1984 with a 10,000 limit and a capital one card he got in 1996 with a 30,000 limit. Thanks.
I added my better half to 2 of my accounts. They do not need the SS#. THey started reporting in a couple of months. Her scores went from 680 to over 720. HTH
I added my spouse to my Discover and Amex without SSAN and the two of these companies reported on all three CRA's. The FICO did increase, in fact Discover just recently invited him to apply.
Added my wife to Discover, they didn't ask for SSN, and it as on EX before the card even arrived. I think it added about 15 points.
im not sure how it affected my scores, it could have possibly pushed them down because the utilization on the card is about 85%.
