I have a question for Saar.. its about my 0% current offer on my Discover account. Current Balance 7,200 making payment next week of $200 - my norm. Credit Limit $9,500 have had account 2 years now. Saar said Discover extended the 0% offer several times. My offer expires in August..I would like to know the best way to make the request. Cherie

I phoned into Discover.. it went somthing like this. Me.. yes, my records show that my Balance Transfer offer will expire on August 10th. I was wondering if I could get an extention of my offer at this time. CSR ..Her... umm let me see.. if you were to have it available ( the extention ) it would have been so noted at the time of the transfer.... .... no, sorry mam.. You do not,. Me.. are you sure ? Her.. yes mam... I can offer you the ongoing rate of 9.9% Me.. no thank you all the offers I have currently are @ 0%.. so I am pretty sure I can do better than 9.9%. I guess I will begin the process of moving my 7K balance elsewhere. Her.. anything else I can help you with tonight.. Me.. Try again. What do you have to lose? Also, try calling later at night when it is not so busy - I believe you get friendlier reps then. Keep calling every so often and continue to ask the same thing - please extend my offer. Willis
Sort of a follow up.. having no success with getting my zero offer with Discover extended. I started looking through my credit card offers and credit card files. I came to Capital One.. hadn't heard anything from them in a while so gave them a call. To my surprise our account is now rated as a "best" customer. We qualified for a BT of 2.9% until paid.. no fee. I wasted no time giving the CSR the Discover account number. ~Cherie
Now that's a sweet deal. And think, I was happy with the 3.9 I got from Universal Card. Now, since you are moving your balance, call Discover and ask them for a better deal or else you will close the account. They probably will give you 0% on purchases and/or BT for 6-12 months. Congrats, Willis
