I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me ... Called regular cust. svc. Pressed "2" to see if eligible for special bal xfer rate (I already knew I was from looking at account online) Talked to nice lady ... said I'd make an xfer, but didn't want to push my ratios too high. Nice lady said I could request a CL increase Told nice lady I'd like +$5k, but didn't want to hurt my credit score with any hard inquiries Nice lady said she could put in CL increase request as an "in-house" request - no inq. In 2 seconds she came back and said without doing a credit report, she could offer $2k. UNBELIEVABLE. 3 years with this card - this is the 1st increase I have gotten. Between the 0% purchase APR thorugh November, and now 0% BT ... I'm liking Discover a lot lately. The Discover2Go card - the one on a keychain - is VERY cool ... it's not only very handy in the summer, but it's a head-turner to boot. Hope this helps anyone else looking to increase their Discover limit (GEORGE!!!) -mj
***ALWAYS*** But I finally got one about 6 months ago I think... HAD TO WAIT YEARS!!! THEY WANT TO DO A "HARD" AND YOU CAN HAVE ALL YOU WANT...NO "HARD" NO INCREASE!!!
mj, I usually wait for a year for limit increase without hard inquiry and they increased all my Discover Card after a year. Two yrs ago, I request for limit increase and they pulled hard inquiry from my Equifax report. They denied me because excessive inquiries. Ron.
...sorry for not proofreading (VB code is a PAIN, and that from someone who used to use code-based TYPESETTERS!!!) The end-result was $2,000 increase without any inquiries. 12 months after opening the account I asked for $4k and they pulled a hard inq - same reason as you had, "too many inquiries" "DUH!" Anyone know how long they wait between increases -- is it 6, 9, or 12 months? And yes -- the 2go card is very useful. Now that I have 0% on purchases and a big fat BT at 0% - all until December - I'll actually use the damn thing. Heck, I may even get to the $20 needed to cash in the cash-back. -mj
