I applied for the Discover Platinum card online, and received my denial notice today in the mail. They gave three denial reasons.

EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF CREDIT BUREAU INQUIRIES
AGE GROUPING-FAILED TO OBTAIN MAXIMUM POINTS
    AGE OF BANK REFERENCES

What does the "age grouping" denial mean?

    Age Grouping

Is it possible that you are under 30 years old, or under 40, or even under 50? It seems that age discrimination is allowed in granting credit, as long as certain age groups actually have a record of higher delinquencies.

    RE: Age Grouping

Age discrimination in the 'purity' and 'equality' of credit scores, who'd have thunk it!

When I first attempted to gain credit, the credit managers and supervisors made little attempt to hide their disdain and loathing for an individual over 30 who has not previously garnered credit.

Things were simpler when I was a totally cash person.
