I rec'd a Discover Platinum offer today. 0% until 5/2003, etc etc.... (I've been receiving quite a few different offers since I started cleaning up my credit - and it's not even that clean yet.) What I found really interesting is that you can transfer balances from "retail cards, student/auto loans, home equity, etc." to the CC. Is that unusual? I don't usually bother to even read the offers, as I'm not ready to take on a CC yet.

If anyone's interested: 0% until 5/2003, up to 50k LOC, standard APR after initial offer is 12.99% (varies at Prime + 8.24%) for purchases, Default Purchase APR is 19.99%, 25 day grace period, no annual fee

If your credit is not that clean, be careful. I received a "pre-selection" letter as well, and was turned down. Of course, this didn't help credit-wise.

They may also just give you a classic card with a low cl.

I recieved a pre-selected offer for a Discover card about 3 months ago.

Unfortunately I had a DC from 93-98 and $3222 was charged off and remains unpaid to this day. Strange thing is they contacted me once in early '99 at work to pay it off. I honestly thought it was a fellow employee messing around with me since the phone rang as an internal call (so he must have had receptionist xfer) and his voice sounded exactly like a friends at work. I bluntly told him I wasn't going to pay it and that was the last I ever heard from them. The account has never been sent to collections and I've never recieved any type of collection letters ever.

Needless to say I thought the pre-selected offer was some type of setup so I never even opened it lol.

I pulled my TU report yesterday and Discover has an inquiry from 09/2002 on it, hmm I guess they're trying to find me now.
