My wife paid off her Discover card and closed it 1 month ago. Someone from Discover called on 8/14/2002 and asked her for reconsideration. She strictly stated several time that she is refusing to reopen the account. Today she received letter from Discover informing her: "We are pleased to confirm your decision to remain a Discover Cardmemeber". Unbelieveable !!! What they are trying to do ???
It looks like they don't need your consent for anything. They can do whatever they want including reopening, closing, inaccurate reporting to the CRA's...
