I have requested a verification or delete from Discover Card of a paid charge off. In their response they state that they cannot process my request without my ss#, birthdate and previous addresses? However, my name, account number (as reported on the credit reports) and and address are complete on the letter sent to them. Isn't that enough? I shouldn't give them more identifying data, should I? If they can verify the account, they already have all the information they need, right? Any help/ideas greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Kristine
Dear Discover Card, Due to the increased instances of Identity Theft in the US I will not be disclosing my SS# and other information you have requested. I have given you my full name and the account number your company has been reporting to (NAME) credit reporting agency. This should be adaquate information for your company to search your records and correct the erronious information. Sincerely, KristineCA I would then also make sure to dispute it with the CRA's after you've sent this out. This should hopefully work to make it dissappear. Since they don't seem to be able to find you in the computer system, how can they legally respond to a dispute from the CRA that it is accurate? Good luck. ChrisB
