Discover reports to the credit bureaus that I owe $65. Now, I've never carried a balance on this card. I pay in full prior to the closing date. However, that is not a major issue provided it doesn't happen too often. What could potentially be a problem, though, is that Equifax for some apparent reason doesn't report my credit limit, so in essence, my utilization on this card is currently at 100%! I noticed a 10 point drop on my PG report this morning. Though this isn't FICO, it's still a fairly good indicator of what's happening!
That's one of the reasons why I closed CC with them, because you never know what the hell they are reporting and why???...sometime they don't update the balance and CL in months, then they remove CL and report HC only, then they update the balance with the amount that I don't know how they figured out, or if you make large purchase they update the CRA's within hours...very strange reporting !!!@@@???
I was an AU on my ex-H's discover card. When we got divorced, we split everything up - our joint cards --- split... all AUs taken off. All joint cards that I was taken off of - and all AU cards that I was taken off off - now report as - last reported 2 years ago... good standing...and whatever balance there was at the time. So.. I will have a balance of 9K (H's house set up ) on Discover..and various blanaces on other cards -- for an eternity, it appears. My utilization is obviously falsely high. But, since they are listed as open and in good standing -- I don't really know how to dispute them. I have a feeling that they will be deleted entirely if I dispute them at all. I wonder if thats true.
I don't think it is Equifax that is not reporting the credit limit, I think it is that Discover Card does not report your credit limit. I was just looking at my TransUnion and my credit limit is not reported. My balance is approx 2800 but my credit limit is 6000, but showing that i am using almost 75 percent of my credit line.
