First off, i swear by Privacy Guard, i think they deserve the money after my $1 period is over. Anyhoo, i check my Privacy Guard at least 2-3 times a week. Yes I'm that obsessive. The report i pulled on 2/10 had Discover stating that on my TU "Purchased by Another Lender", Payment Status: Payment after Charge Off/Collection. On 2/16 it reads : Profit and Loss Writeoff, Payment Status: Charged Off as Bad Debt. Why would this make my TU score jump 7pts? Prior to this I sent my 1st Nutcase letter to Discover where they brushed me off and stated that a CA has purchased my account and we have nothing to do with it anymore. Any insights?
How old is it? Did it pass a "magic" point, like 6 months or a year? If so, just the age could give you some points, the remark might just be a coincident. You think two or three times a week is obsessive? Some of us check it every day.
Discover was paid off in 2001, but the TL itself is like 9 years old. I think what is impacting the change is that i sent them my 1st Nutcase letter last month to have them remove it. They sent me a letter back saying that they no longer own the account but a collection agency did, that's true but the CA never posted a TL on my CR, only Discover did. I believe after that Discover changed my remarks to give it a more positive spin. I'm now wondering why TU is capturing it and this was never done for EX and EQ.
