Dish Network-Is this legal?

I answered my cell phone the other day, and it was an automated response from Dish Network saying that my account was past due, and due to be disconnected. They didn't even ask if they were speaking with XXX, went directly into the message as soon as I answered.

I was bothered by this because I could have been at work, and had a co-worker answer the phone while I was out in the plant. I had been given a one month credit the previous month, but wasn't aware that it didn't cover the entire balance, so I appreciate the courtesy call, but didn't think they should be providing this much information without verifying who they were speaking with.

I called in to complain and the rep didn't seem too concerned, and when I asked for a supervisor was put on hold for a half hour. Should I call the AG, BBB, or someone else regarding this invasion of my privacy.

Depends upon the state. The FDCPA doesn't apply to original creditors.

Who said anything about the FDCPA?
