Mickey Mouse, Disney's Michael Eisner and Bank One's Jamie Dimon this morning will ring the opening bell at The New York Stock Exchange to celebrate the launch of the new Disney co-branded credit card. The "Disney VISA Credit Card from Bank One" is the result of separate deals signed last June by VISA and Bank One with Disney which became effective in January of this year

You won't get one of these if you have a bankruptcy on your record or any delinq during the past six months.

I own Disney stock and as a shareholder I received this 'special offer' to be one of the first to get the card. However, the first two questions they ask, even before "Name: " is have you a bankruptcy on your credit and the delinq (past 6 months I believe).

It's a really cool looking card and I was excited to maybe get one until I opened it up and read the first two items.

    "That's all folks."

    Geo,

I'm thinking to apply for one and I'm sure that they will approve me but I already had four accounts with them. By tthe way, I like Disney Credit Card and it is a better looking card but no bonus.

I would be very interested in this account however I had a medical bill go into collection in December original creditor was from March 2002 think I have a chance (scores are right at 600) probably not, just thought I would ask before I waste an inquiry!

    George,

I don't think they give you instant approval like they used to be. They pulled Experian where I live in Texas.

You can get a real "Mickey Mouse" credit card thanks to a deal stuck last year between Disney, Bank One and VISA. This week, the three companies debuted the new "Disney VISA Credit Card from Bank One." The card's key feature is its "Disney Dream Reward Dollars" program. Cardholders earn 1% of their purchase volume back in "Disney Dollars," which can be redeemed with as little as 20 "Disney Dollars." Rewards can be redeemed toward merchandise, theme park tickets, or hotel rooms at Disney facilities. Cardholders are also entitled to take advantage of upcoming special offers such as three free movies plus a Disney backpack when enrolling in the Disney Movie Club with Disney's VISA card and a $100 per night discount at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge from April 27th through July 3rd. The card carries no annual fee, and variable APRs, ranging from prime + 6.90% to prime +10.90%. Bank One says nearly 100,000 people have pre-registered for the card after Disney offered its most loyal customers the opportunity to be first-in-line for the new product last month. I don't think most credit cards will approve with scores in the 600 range. Especially if you have derogs on your reports. You may roll the dice and get an approval, but if I were you, I would wait until the scores were up some before getting the inquiry hit for nothing.

Another thing to think about is that inquiries generally hurt your score more when it is lower rather than higher.

I went and took a look at the application linked here.

It does say right at the top of the app:

You must be able to answer "yes" to all three questions to be approved

    (1) My credit report if free of bankruptcy
    (2) Can't remember the exact wording on this one, I believe it said "free of negative information"
    and
    (3) I have not been denied credit from Bank One in the past 6 months
