CHASE "THINKS" I have a 30 day late on an old account...(NEVER BEEN LATE!!!)

How do you DISPROVE it...I have all the old account statements...

BUT IS IT WORTH IT TO CLEAR MY RECORD???

DO I WASTE MY TIME SENDING COPIES OF 3 YEARS OF STATEMENTS???

NO LATES ON ANY CREDIT REPORT!!!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to be late when all checks (or EFT'S) clear my bank BEFORE the due date!!!

IF THEY DON'T WANT MY BUSINESS ANY MORE...WHY COME UP WITH A BOGUS 30 DAY LATE ON A CLOSED ACCOUNT???

Do they really think I won't be able to PROVE THEM WRONG???

I think I'd be inclined to call first and tell them you have proof that all payments were received before the due date. Tell them that you want a detailed statement of account for the past three years so that you can see where the mistake is. But I would definitely let them know up front that you have all documentation to call their bluff. If you don't want to call. write or PFB them, although I personally would save PFB for later. I would also say something like "if this issue cannot be resolved at this level, I reserve the right to take all appropriate action, to include notifying appropriate government agencies and my Congressman." I know that when I worked in the insurance industry (years ago), just the threat of a "Congressional" was all it took.

I don't know if this will still work or not, but it's worth a try. And remember you said you reserved the right to do this, not that you were GOING to do it.

If they are PROVED WRONG...WHAT DO I WIN...nothing

All accounts on all CRA'S--->PAID/NEVER LATE...

It must be an "INTERNAL" thing???

THEIR COMPUTER IS LYING TO THEM!!!

If they're not reporting a late to the CRA, then I guess the question becomes, do you want anything out of them? Have you asked for a CL increase or rate decrease and been declined because of this? If so, and you want the result (CL increase or rate reduction), then it's worth it. If not, I guess I'd leave it alone for now. BUT--monitor your reports closely (I think you do, anyway). I had a similar problem with BofA, and all of a sudden a TWO-YEAR OLD late shows on my credit report!! What a crock! I wrote them another letter, but haven't gotten a reply yet. I told them I can prove all of my payments and that I know they just settled a lawsuit over late posting. If I don't like the results, I'll send a PFB, if that doesn't work I will contact my Congressman and possibly some of the chairs of the committees in the House and Senate.

Sorry I missed the part about not reporting before.

    I can PROVE THEM WRONG!!!

But I guess it is NOT worth it!!!

I will CLOSE my account and my wifes account and be DONE WITH THEM!!!

I was denied for a second account (APPLICATION)

They "JACKED" my rate W/O explination...16.24% (was 11.74%)

I will keep on paying our 0.00% BT'S 2 seperate accounts (expires 08/01/2003)

A note from a BIG (bloody sarcasm) fan of Chase.

Talking to them is a waste of time. Their reps seem to treat every caller as a potential payment avoider and it's always the consumer's fault, not theirs.

If you are willing to waste some paper, locate the statement on which they claim you were late, get a copy of the cancelled check showing that it was cancelled before the payment due date and send it to them.

Of course, they are free to ignore it and they probably will.

    George:

What was their explanation for jacking your rate to 16.24%. They did the same thing to me, said it was an opt out thing where you had to respond in writing by Feb something to close your acct and keep your current lower rate. I never got notice of this opt out crap and wrote several letters.....getting me nowhere. One reply to my letters referred me to the notation area on bill that supposedly directed me to the insert notice. I have all bills and there was no notation on any of them of this opt out change.

Just wondering if we are victims of the same rate jack.

Maybe it's just me, I tend to be a fighter sometimes, but if they jacked my rate, I'd fight. I'd tell them to prove it was late, and when they couldn't, I'd go to the state attorney general (Colorado for you, GEORGE, as well as the state or states where they operate and/or are incorporated). I'd cc every member of the House and Senate Banking Committee (if they are in fact the committee that oversees this, I assume they are and the FTC). I think they just need to know that we know what they're up to. I'm spoiling for a fight with Chase anyway, but I'd do it even if it weren't Chase.

I know you can close the accounts, but won't that hurt your score and change your ratios?

If it were me, I'd look at it as a step to the 800 club!

Irish Eyes, welcome to the club.

They claim they sent opt out notices, yet nobody ever received them. I have two coworkers who have exactly the same problem.

I pay ON-LINE and it was NOT on the ON-LINE bill...found the mailed bill...IT WAS IN THERE...TOO LATE!!!

So you got your notice. I even sent her copies of my bills and she ignored that part of my complaint after she specifically told me to look there and that would prove her case.

Damn, I get mad just thinking about it. I called when I first got the bill with the 16% and the CSR had the you know what to ask me what was I complaining about, my rate could be 24%.

GRRRRR........PawMix, what did your co-workers do if anything. I am at a loss for how to persue it anymore.

    Irish Eyes,

We're all stuck. Talking to them doesn't work, letters are being ignored and we are all overseas and fairly broke so we're not thinking about a lawsuit any time soon.

Solution? Pay off the card and tell them to eat it. We're actually working on it right now. On paying, not sure how to go about the eating part lol.

You say you're overseas. Are you military? If so, then I really would write a lot of letters. You may be broke and overseas, but that's no reason to be treated like this. Letters can work, if enough people write. If you're military, write to your Senators and Congressmen. Look on the web and find who is on the banking committee. Write to all of them. Make sure you tell them you're overseas serving your country.

You could even try writing to your hometown papers back home.

Just don't give up. Make them know that they can't get away with it.

My DH is in the military.

Writing the congress folks seems to be a good idea. I actually didn't think about it, I guess depression over Chase can put one in that state of mind.

Will whip up some letters and mail them next week. It surely doesn't hurt to try.

    Wahhh George, we cross posted.

WOW, thanks for the info, I never actually looked at it since we have no mortgage right now and we never really needed any help but WOW. I wonder what Chase will do when we mention S&SRA in our correspondence to them.

    Thanks again!

Will try that and see what I get.

If not, well, we'll have a chunk of money coming in May, just about enough to pay that hog off. I was going to plug it into AmEx, on which we have a nice $30,000 balance (don't ask) but I guess it will have to wait a bit.
