Dispute history, TL gets deleted?

I had a providian credit card on my reports that was opened in the mid 90's and closed about a year and a half ago. It was showing a number of 30 day lates and a couple 60 and 90's. It also said "Account closed by credit grantor" Since it was one of my oldest accounts I wanted to keep it, so I just disputed the account history. I just checked my reports today and both Experian and Equifax deleted the entire tradeline. TransUnion hasn't done anything yet, but the 30 days isn't up until early next week.

Because it said "Account closed by credit grantor" I'm not too upset about losing it, but is it common practice to delete an entire TL when one disputes the history?

    Thanks,
    Brett
