HSBC said I owed them $390 since 1998. I never had an account with HSBC, and don't owe them anything. Disputed it with Equifax and they erased the amount and called it a charge off. Now I just pulled up Equifax and that $390 is listed 90 days late on that report! It seems they posted this on Equifax the day they amended it on Experian. WTF???

How did you do the dispute? CRRR or by other?

Stupid me, it was my first dispute and I did it online.

But the problem is obviously @ HSBC being outright vindictive. To "fix" it on one report, then immediately go to another report that wasn't even in question to ding me in every category -
    "bad debt"
"$390 past due as of 05/2002"
30 days late 2x unknown date
60 days late 1x unknown date
90 days late 2x unknown date
    It's absurd!

    Igotarock,

IMMEDIATELY dispute that item on your equifax report - chances are it will not be verified.

Thanks Sal! I've been so angry, but I think I've finally calmed down enough to do just that.

    No Problem.

It's just a nasty little game you have to keep playing with these slime. They will try anything and everything to get your money from you and if they can't collect they play the "Lets ruin your name game"
