Using PG, to see my Shell Oil TL:
--on EX I'm seeing remarks: "Account in Dispute - reported by subscriber".
--on TU it states "Dispute of Account Information".

This has appeared for more than 30 days.

Does this mean I should contact the CRA and demand these TL be deleted, or ....?

This is the standard dispute notation that is needed on a TL whenever it has been disputed in any way, shape, or form.

It isn't indicative of whether or not the account will fall off any easier.

I guess the part that is confusing me is this.

I figured that when I disputed that they would put this notation on the existing TL for the OC. But in my mind after 30 days of dispute they would either delete or remove the notation.

I have in fact meanwhile received the snail mail copies and they were listed as "update" or "remains" -- can't recall which.

So will this TL just always list "diputed" until the 7 years, or if I get lucky?

That's how it works I think.

If they are complying with the FCRA it will always report as disputed... :)

If the DF reports it without the disputed notation, then they are violating, and the CRA is violating, because BOTH are required to ensure that the disputed notation is there.

I only saw that the disputed account comment removed on one account (because I actually *WASN'T* disputing the account, I had sent them a request for reconsideration, and they marked it in dispute for a month's reporting.)

What good does it do one to have something marked in dispute ?

Well, it is *SUPPOSED* to be significant when someone is manually reviewing a credit application, *YES, that does occasionally happen* ;)

You can note it duspute but who are they going to believe you or the reporter.

Ah, but that's the best part, if its marked as disputed on the report, then its the reporter who is also notating that the account is disputed. It's no longer just the consumer saying that the account is disputed, the data furnisher is agreeing that the account is disputed... ;)
